Graduation

Hi guys blogging after a long time…don’t get enough motivation nowadays too blog...but still I have a important milestone completed so I guess this is a good time to return. I recently completed my Masters in Computer Science. This post is about the experience and what lies ahead for me…

It was a huge ceremony and one of the occasions where it felt great and like you have achieved something. It was a great feeling to go up on the stage and shake hands with the honorees. We all had the graduation gowns and hats put up with hoods, for me it was completely new and rewarding experience. This will be surely one of my greatest hits in my life...I don’t know if I deserve that much…but I have worked hard and it feels good to look back and know that it is a milestone to stay with me always..

Now looking forward, it’s a going to be difficult again, when I came for my Master’s I had different problems and worries to deal with…initially it was the applications…then was the waiting for admits…later it was leaving from home and then adjusting to a new place also keeping up with studies..Now I guess it starts again…applications first then…waiting for calls come the keeping up with daily job hassles and tantrums of bosses…its funny but speaking generally can be monotonous… but I guess it’s important that I enjoy the process and give my best in what I am doing…

I think talking to one of friends I have realized…it is quite important to set short term goals…I was getting little frustrated and with all the stuff going in my head…but really instead of just worrying…and ruminating over the past..We could just try to live the present better and well…and then I hope everything just falls into place…signing out…

Life and Evolution...

I was thinking the other day about blogging and really it should help to realize a few things about me and also in a way if I could span out something interesting and thought-provoking it would really be great.
The post is more about evolution of oneself through course of life and will try and analyze mine if there has been any?? : P...I feel it is very important that we evolve and change constantly mostly for benefit of us and at times even others. There are various rates however, and I guess some people mature very early and some late...
When back in school I was to be bullied quite often and made of fun of at times...probably there were few others who were made more fun of but i was certainly at times one of the bakras...and being introverted and staying at home does not help the cause….seems bad when I think of it...people usually have good memories and say their school day were the golden days..I would not say that but it was not hell either and did have good times...esp. when I got talking and mixing up with everyone during 9th and 10th...when I think of it now I think I handled it pretty well…some people don’t!!....and really the important thing was never took the mocking and embarrassments too seriously…
Then in college and engineering days I feel had lot more fun and really can’t think of much embarrassments...here are there a few maybe: P...but was more or less on the other side..back in school I thought it would be good to be with the less studious people and sit on back benches and pass comments…So in college I did try to emulate them and even in egg….until B.E I realised that pretending to be someone is never going to help….and got back to studying a little more seriously…its quite true as they say-
“The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence…”
Now here in US doing my master’s I have actually done both been active in extracurricular activates and also studying…I remember back in school I was to find every possible reason to not be a part of any extra activities and chicken out every time…these two years I have learned a lot….more than what I did in past 18 years..And went wrong at times….made some mistake…had failures…sometimes tasted success…but really if you plot a graph of my growth last few years it should be exponential…I remember from Spiderman when Spidey’s Uncle Ben says-
“These are the years you turn into the person you will be in future. So, be careful what you turn into…”
I am “Gemini” according to these they say we got dual personalities…if I think of it may be true…But I don’t believe in astrology and all anyways…I feel it’s very important that we do things which we like doing and also at times things that we may be scared of and never imagine...just once at least...Signing out for now…will end with this Einstein’s quote which I feel is important that we understand in today’s world...
“Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value” – Albert Einstein

Life and Jobs...

Hey Guyz back with another post and will try and discuss my view on On Campus jobs in UHCL.
I got a new On Campus job as a Student worker in the Labs. I was hoping to get it as I had a good Interview. But as there were so many applicants never was sure about it. So I am actually a little relieved now and can concentrate more easily on few other things. I really wanted this job...I know its not a big deal getting an on campus job but really when you work hard for something and get it its always very nice and rewarding. But you need to give it your best and work relentless in achieving it..As in The Alchemist the King says...
"When you really want something the whole universe conspires in helping you achieve it"
Well..I heard this in movie "Accepted" the fake principal says the purpose of education is to find a "good job". It still is so true if you think about it..all your education and all those grades so far were really towards finding a good job. I will be graduating this semester and don't have job yet..will keep on applying though...but with my profile and recession...it's going to be difficult...
To me a good job is one which interests me if not all the time..at least frequently enough...and at the same time pays me reasonably well..funny its quite difficult to find that combination...probably impossible...In fact most of the people would love a job that pays them heavily and the work does not really matter.. at times they try and develop interest in it..which works at times..sometimes people just hate what they are doing...and want all the time to do something that really appeals to them...but are not willing to sacrifice on the money.. :)..It's really something that I can go on talking..
But finally its up to each one of us what we choose....addiction to money although no one may think is the most difficult one...I probably have not done a good job at expressing my thoughts...the post seems a little digressing..So would like to end it on more focused view.....

Money is important..playing safe is also important...but one should not be motivated only by it..After a point I guess at least in life when we have a solid base I guess :)...We can move out of the flock and may be stop being safe for a while and take a few risks...follow the omens as they say(The Alchemist)...funny but I feel we should be still safe before trying anything new..that’s where I probably fail...anyway...will stop now...will try and write a little more focused with my new posts..

Downslide..

Hey guys back and will share some of my recent failures and mishaps.I wish to learn from them and improve as student and individual.
Firstly I lost my job as a research assistant..came to me as shock as never expected it.The reasons being professor didn't have enough funds. Honestly speaking i think he was happy with my work but he had some other plans and hence decided not to hire anyone for the fall semester and told it pretty late so that we would concentrate on the work. But I have nothing against him and for lot of reasons and one of the most important being he gave me a job when I needed it desperately. I really think getting jobs is matter of luck and time.... more than if you deserve it or not....what matters is that were you there at the right time and did you push the right buttons.
Anyways I also did fail in SCJP exam scoring 55% when i needed 58% to pass.I was close but really I was not prepared and always knew that. But somehow was banking on my luck to scrape me through and did not happen. I have lot of reasons for my failure if I analyse it...its funny our mind always tries to protect itself and
never agrees it maybe at fault. Honestly I think I did not study well enough and in the right direction therefore failing was always on the cards. I have learnt one thing that delaying never works and we need to make little sacrifices at times for bigger joys.
Anyways it seems my search for on campus jobs is also going to turn futile. Although there are few chances here and there...it is very likely that I might end up jobless in this semester. But I am not that disappointed..as I have done pretty much my best to get a job unlike earlier time where I just sat on my ass and kept whining without making any persistent efforts. Experience always is invaluable and one of the things money can never buy.
Anyways these failures have made me sad and was disappointed some time. But really they have also made me more aware and forced me to work more hard which will probably
help my own cause. It's unfortunate but some people need a pat on their back and some a kick, I fall in the second category most of the times and hope I can improve it.
Although the post is more melancholy, in reality I still have been enjoying these days and tried my hand at fishing for first time and had a good time. I may not know much but I know that It is important that I give my best and keep working hard in whatever I do...whether in state of failure or success..really does not matter...at least to my conscience.Of course keep enjoying along these times and find time for some other thinga which I love. Signing out..

ISA UHCL Cricket tournament

Thanks to my procrastination this is after a long time I am blogging again. I am going to discuss few of my recent events.

Starting with Cricket tournament unfortunately we lost in the Semi-Finals but have to admit were beaten by a better team. I think still we played really well and had our moments in tournament. Other teams even accused us of having to face relatively weak oppositions and making our way to semi-finals luckily. I would say in a way it was true but really nothing was our hands and evrytime we went out there we gave it our best. For other teams i would say stop whining and try and enjoy the game.

Personally I feel I bowled well..at least better than last years tournament..also was given more confidence by my team this time.I took 5 wickets and was probably the third highest wicket-taker till the finals. I bowled pretty badly in semis gave away 25 runs of 2 overs. I think when I try and analyze why we lost Semis it comes down probably that we were little intimidated and negative in our approach which did not help our cause. I wish I could have done things litl differently here and there but when I look back I am happy to have achieved something and played well most of the time.

Cricket is always been a passion for me and I felt at times I should give it less importance and concentrate more on studies(esp. back in engg days). So, this time round had no practice but just played the matches directly. Its been quite a memorable tournament nevertheless..I will remember the Quarter-finals we won on the last ball...To know more about the event you can visit here-

Cricket still remains religion in India and I think always will. But unfortunately match-fixing and other issues such as drugs have affected the game permanently.
I sincerely hope that cricket anywhere around the world is played with a relentless fighting Spirit and mainly for "Love of the game" and Pride of One's Country and for the millions of supporters who sacrifice important things to watch the game.

The Dark Knight

Hi Everyone as the title suggests this post will express my views on one of
my favorite movies of all time.I am really a movie buff and I really would like to praise Nolan and his team for coming out with this masterpiece.Accidently Nolan is also my favorite director and have watched all his films except for "The Following".I feel his "Memento" is probably the one that is even better than caped crusader.
Anyways just a little background for those of you who dont know i hope there are not any!!."The Dark Knight" is a sequel to "Batman Begins" and involves Batman taking on his arch nemesis Joker."The Dark Knight" has got favorable reviews from everywhere..did stand No:1 on IMDB currently still in top 5 and has 93% on rottentomatoes. It is also second highest grossing movie all time after Titanic collecting over a Billion now!!It is one of the rare movies to have overwhleming critical as well as Box office approval.
But I dont think these impressive figures really matter to fans like me and will devote this movie even if it was not such a success. Each scene in the movie is so well fits the purpose and takes the audience by surprise and keeps them involved.Whether it is intro to Joker or the interrogation Scene or the Climax.I just can go on praising this film ...But here are some points which I feel makes this one a masterpiece-
"JOKER"-I feel it would not be wrong if the film was called "The Dark Knight and Joker" that is how much Joker means to this film.Late Heath Ledger just godlike in the movie no award would do justice and no praise would suffice for the charismatic creation of Joker by this actor. It is in my view on of the best roles enacted by an actor all time if not the best.I can go on praising Ledger's performance but will stop now saying that joker created by him will be always be in everyone's memories..
"Christopher Nolan"-I feel there is something great about this director as he does better himself with every movie.I think it would take a genius to really create a masterpiece like this one.I feel personally Nolan usually is a little slow in his narration and his few good scenes that lift the movie and then picks off the end with a great twist. But with Dark Knight there is not a single minute that would be dull alhtough a realtively long movie.
"The Spirit of Batman"-In my view one of the major reasons Dark Knight succeeds is that Nolan is captured the spirit of Batman so beautifully in this movie.(Some of the earlier batman movies just lost it!! barring begins of course!!).The Batman is my favorite superhero he is got no superpowers and yet he vows to never kill a person and that is what makes him great Hero.Nolan Captures the essence of Batman his confusion and feelings so beautifully in this movie and that is what connects with evryone.
Combine that with Joker's explanations for anarchy and his weird actions you actually for a moment feel that he makes sense. But wait a minute..this guy is so cruel and wrong and yet just for a minute you are actually persuaded...ethics are really a topics to discuss!!It always boils down to what choice you make and what you
decide is right and wrong.Anyways I would need another post to talk on ethics....
But combine all these points with a great set of actors, some great CGI,awesome background score, well crafted and shot fight scenes, some bits and pieces of great humor and thought provoking and yet mindblowing dialogues make Dark Knight an Instant Classic!!
In the end all I can say is "The Dark Knight" is a movie you can even recommend later on in your life to your grandsons and they will still end up liking and admiring it in the same way you did!!! Hail Batman!!! Cheers Nolan !!

Blog Title Change and Why Blog??

Well just changed the name of the blog to daydreaming now..don’t know why but it does a good job of expressing my thoughts..:)
Before i actually blog more i thought why not get good reasons for blogging?I dont know how many bloggers have thought this one out..I am pretty sure there are different reasons with everyone here are a few which i think are most common in my view-
1. Getting some attention-This is quite common honestly admit this was one of the reasons for me if not explicitly but sure it was there back of my mind.Anyways this is common and fairly obvious reasons for blogging.
2. Making money-Google ad sense one of the most important
revenues of websites and of google themselves. Many people thought if they can so can we.I am not going in detail with ad sense but getting money from ad sense by manipulating it is one hell of a task. Basically if you would want to earn money you would need to attract lot of visitors and that is only way you can earn some money. Also you need $100 to get a check anyways which is a long way unless you have popular website. But anyways this probably the most common reason.
3. Keeping a log of events and collaboration-This is probably
reasons why some people initially started blogging..keeping record of important events and thoughts..joined with friends commenting on posts and expressing their ideas.

These are probably more common reasons some others include sharing some information (e.g. maybe on a upcoming technology)with others and helping people out and others. I was reading little online about it and some people actually got jobs due their blogs. There are some other benefits which people have got due to blogging.

Well these were probably reasons why people blog...now why i blog???Started out with diff reasons...but now i feel i should just blog to put my thoughts to words and maybe just put my day dreaming to some use instead of none..:)
Signing out..btw decided now on to end very post with some relevant quotes..

Life in USA- wandering thoughts

Hi everyone back to blogging after a long time.I will try and keep this one short and sweet.I agree now as well that my previous posts have been too long(thanks to my procrastination).Anyways about my life its going well I did get a job when I came back from home(had the best trip of my life!!) as a Research Assistant.I am hoping to be continued woeking as RA in summer and learning more along the way. Also proably would do a few certifications along the way and apply online for some CPT postions.I do miss everyone back home esp my parents, friends and food and would love to have another trip before graduating.

But that's it about my life.

There is one thought which troubles me all the time nowadays(implies I do daydream all the time!!) and which is "What I want?" and honestly don't have a clue yet.I dont know should i be playing safe as I am now or should I be doing something that really excites and interests me.I have seen so many people now that are doing work which they despise or have the least interest in it.Also dont about other things like chasing girls or finding love but I suck at talking to girls anyways and have no hopes of wooing a girl but should I be invvesting time in it an trying to work my way or just be a nerd and concentrate on preparing myself for the future. The problem is i dont know what I want and sometimes its very difficult to distinguish between what you like and what is important at that time!!.

Well this one will be continued..
